The Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S is a professional ultra-wide zoom lens engineered exclusively for Nikon's full-frame mirrorless Z system, giving landscape photographers, architectural shooters, and astrophotographers an uncompromising tool for capturing expansive scenes with exceptional clarity. Built as part of Nikon's flagship S-Line, this lens pairs a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture across its entire zoom range with the optical benefits of the shorter Z-mount flange distance, resulting in a design that delivers outstanding sharpness from corner to corner even when shooting wide open. The 14-24mm range makes it endlessly versatile, equally suited to dramatic wide vistas, tight interior spaces, and creative perspective work where exaggerated depth and scale become part of the storytelling. Optically, the lens features a sophisticated arrangement of aspherical and ED glass elements that work together to suppress chromatic aberration, coma, and distortion, problems that are especially difficult to control at such wide focal lengths. Nikon's Nano Crystal and ARNEO coatings are applied to minimize ghosting and flare, a critical advantage when shooting into the sun or capturing star-filled night skies, making it a favorite among Milky Way and aurora photographers. The near-nonexistent focus breathing and fast, quiet stepping motor autofocus system ensure smooth performance for both stills and video work, while the lens maintains impressively close minimum focusing distances that allow for creative foreground emphasis rarely achievable in this focal range. Constructed with a rugged magnesium alloy body and comprehensive weather sealing, the Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S is built to withstand demanding professional use in rain, dust, and cold environments without hesitation. Its fluorine-coated front element repels moisture, fingerprints, and smudges, simplifying maintenance in the field, while the fixed petal-shaped hood design—necessitated by the bulbous front element—protects the glass from stray light and minor impacts. Weighing in as a relatively compact and travel-friendly ultra-wide compared to its F-mount predecessor, this lens has become an essential piece of gear for working photographers who need dependable, edge-to-edge performance in a lightweight yet durable package, whether they're documenting sweeping landscapes, tight editorial interiors, or the night sky itself.
Customer reviews
Coma control at f/2.8 is outstanding for Milky Way shots, and daytime landscapes are tack sharp into the corners. Worth every penny.
Optically this lens is incredible, but I wish there was a filter thread option. Still, image quality won me over.
Distortion is remarkably well controlled for a 14mm ultra-wide. My interior and exterior shoots look professional straight out of camera.
Image quality is superb, autofocus is fast and quiet. My only complaint is the weight after a full day of hiking with it.
